Travel Channel, (formerly known as The Travel Channel,) is a cable and satellite access TV network. Created in 1987, it is owned by Scripps Networks Interactive. It was originally founded by Trans World Airlines, most likely in an attempt to boost airline travel and thus ticket sales. It has now grown into a television network with a viewership of 22 million. Travel Channel offers a range of shows centered around travel and discovery.
